Courage Is The Mastery Of Fear. Not Its Absence

Courage Is The Mastery Of Fear. Not Its Absence

Introduction

Courage is the mastery of fear. Not Its absence. Fear can be a profound and an exhilarating experience; allow me to elaborate on this thought. In His infinite wisdom, Yahweh will never present you with a task that lacks an element of fear. If the aspirations and dreams that stir your heart do not evoke a sense of trepidation, they do not likely originate from Him. The dreams bestowed by Yahweh invariably carry a sense of apprehension as He desires to remind us that only through His divine support can such ambitions become a reality.

In essence, Yahweh is protective of His glory and will not share it with anyone else. Thus, if the endeavour you are pursuing does not necessitate Yahweh’s guidance and assistance, it stands to reason that it may not align with His true purpose for your life.

Courage Is The Mastery Of Fear

The fear you are currently experiencing is a powerful indicator of something greater at work—specifically, the influence of Yahweh in your life. When fear grips you, it signifies that you are on the brink of something significant; it is a signal to take action. That initial moment of trepidation is where all journeys begin—from the ground up. I remember embarking on my path with nothing in my hands and no support from others. All I had was a flicker of an idea, and therein lies the essence of every great endeavour: everything in life starts with a thought.

When Yahweh’s visions and inspirations take root in your mind, they can often evoke a deep-seated fear, yet this fear is a crucial motivator, igniting your belief that these ideas are divinely inspired. Instead of cowering from your fear, embrace it. Recognise that courage can only exist in the shadow of fear. You cannot indeed be courageous unless you face fear head-on. It is this juxtaposition that makes the journey worthwhile. So, allow that fear to fuel your resolve and propel you forward. Fear can often feel like an overwhelming force, but interestingly, it can also catalyse bravery.

In this context, courage is deeply intertwined with faith; it emerges from a belief that guides us through challenging times. To truly embody fearlessness, one must cultivate this essential quality of courage. It is important to understand that having courage does not equate to living without fear—instead, it is the ability to act despite it. This inherent strength signals that you are on a path aligned with a greater purpose or assignment from a higher power.

Remember, courage is not the absence of fear but the determination to forge ahead despite it. So, instead of succumbing to fear, harness it as a powerful tool to foster the courage you need to navigate life’s obstacles and fulfil your destiny.

Never Give In To Fear

Courage is the mastery of fear

Fearless Courage

Embodying fearlessness means embracing the courage to leap into the unknown with unwavering confidence. This remarkable quality can spark envy in others, as many people long for the boldness to make choices that pave the way to their dreams. Yet, the haunting spectre of “what if” often shackles them, instilling a paralysing fear that prevents them from taking decisive action.  A genuinely courageous person, however, relentlessly pursues their goals, unafraid to navigate the complexities of both triumph and failure.

They understand that the journey towards their aspirations involves making tough decisions and handling whatever outcomes may arise—positive or negative. Yet, possessing such strength and bravery is no simple feat; if it were, the world would be filled with fearlessly bold people. It requires empowerment from the Holy Ghost to cultivate this kind of fearless courage. This inner strength fuels our resolve to face challenges head-on and seize opportunities without hesitation. Isaiah 11:1-3; KJV

How I Overcame My Fear Of Public Speaking

Public speaking can be a common fear for many people. Symptoms often include physical reactions such as a knot in the stomach, stumbling over words, and feelings of embarrassment, which can lead to cold sweats. However, overcoming this phobia is possible with the right strategies. One effective method is to practice speaking in front of a mirror, which allows you to become comfortable with your delivery and body language. Gradually advancing to small groups of trusted relatives or friends can also help build confidence.

Courage is the mastery of fear not the absence

While it is expected to feel slightly anxious before speaking, these techniques can significantly diminish fear. I began teaching Sunday school at church, starting with the enthusiastic under-13s. Their curiosity and energy were infectious, and I soon transitioned to leading the teens, where the discussions became richer and filled with deeper questions. Eventually, I addressed the main church congregation, a moment that felt both exhilarating and daunting.

On weekends, I embraced the vibrant role of a DJ and master of ceremonies at various events and functions, weaving music and words together to create unforgettable experiences. Each time I stood before an audience, a familiar twinge of nervousness would rise within me just before I began speaking. However, that feeling quickly faded once I immersed myself in the flow of my presentation.

Instead of resisting the fear that threatened to hold me back, I learned to surrender to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This approach not only eased my anxiety but also allowed me to connect deeply with others. I firmly believe that this practice can benefit anyone facing similar fears. By submitting to a higher authority—the Holy Spirit—and resisting the grip of anxiety, I discovered that fear could be diminished and ultimately flee from me. The journey has been transformative, and I encourage others to muster their courage to overcome the barriers fear tries to erect.

The Reason For Fear

Everyone experiences fear in some form. It is a universal human emotion, and no one is entirely fearless. Fear plays a vital role in keeping us safe; it is designed to provide an extra surge of adrenaline in potentially dangerous situations. Its primary purpose is to alert you to danger, enabling you to flee or confront the threat. While fear can sometimes overwhelm your thoughts and emotions, it does not have power over you unless you allow it to. Think of fear as an early warning system that signals impending danger, but remember that it should not define who you are.

Fear can enter your life through various channels, but it’s essential to manage it effectively.

  • Based on your beliefs,
  • Past experiences,
  • From stories you have been told,
  • Or stories that have been told about you.
Burden of fear

“The issue is that when you confront fear and let it take control, you tend to shut down. You feel small and retreat into your shell. Fear can paralyse you and hinder your ability to make sound decisions. It negatively affects your attitude, stops you from taking action, and ultimately gains power over you. Fear keeps you from becoming the person you were meant to be.”

Conclusion

When fear whispers in your ear, telling you why you should be worried, respond to it respectfully but firmly. Acknowledge its concern, but let it know you will be all right. Trust yourself and your ability to handle whatever comes your way, as you are standing on solid foundations. Things may not go as planned, and you might get a little bruised, but that is okay. You will figure things out, pick yourself up, and continue to grow and learn. Remember that you have what it takes to face challenges, so when fear takes hold, be patient with the butterflies in your stomach, the shortness of breath, and the sweaty palms. Hang in there.

It will not be easy, so do not shy away from it. Acknowledge it, recognise it, and take action. Take three deep breaths and ask yourself three times: What are you terrified of? Repeat the question until you find an answer. You will come to realise that there is nothing to fear.

What fears linger in your mind, and what obstacles stand in your way? We invite you to reflect on your experiences and share your journey to confront and conquer your fears. Your stories of resilience and triumph can inspire others, and we would love to hear about the strategies and insights that helped you overcome those barriers.

  1. Hey Jerry,
Im not really a fearful person but i do have some fears mostly like the fear of rejection everyone has but as the bible says as believers the world will reject us so it makes no sense to be fearful of your destiny and it actually helps me to embrace it.

In the world we live in every body is trying to stand out by doing the same things through fear of being themselves but in doing so they all blend in to themselves like a camoflague.

You can only ever stand out by being rejected and being set apart.

My only fear is letting fear control me and taking me away from my destiny

And like the bible says perfect love casts out all fear……. im working on that lol

Thank you for your feedback ambassador, I think the fear of rejection is one fear that seems to touch everyone at one stage or another. The most important thing us that you are love and will never be rejected by the One who shed His blood died for you, Christ Jesus.
