Knowing Your Gift
Everyone has unique gifts and talents that contribute to their identity and purpose. In my journey, I have realised I am fortunate to have diverse abilities. Among these are my passions for writing, nurturing my role as a father and husband, engaging in public speaking, and serving as a life coach and mentor. Additionally, I apply my expertise as an IT consultant and share insights as a Bible teacher. Navigating these various roles is fulfilling yet challenging. Each day offers a new opportunity to embrace my multifaceted life, but it also requires careful balance.
Through deep reflection and self-examination, I have recognised the importance of honing in on the one talent that resonates with my soul the most: Bible teaching. This calling ignites my hunger and directs my energy toward further nurturing and developing this gift. As I devote myself to this primary passion, I find that my other gifts intertwine seamlessly with my role as a teacher. They complement and enhance one another, creating a rich tapestry of experiences that allow me to impact the lives of those around me. In this way, I have discovered a sense of fulfilment and purpose that comes from focusing on what I love the most.
This approach has enabled me to effectively harness and channel all my talents toward a unified purpose. I encourage others with multiple skills to embark on a similar journey of self-discovery and focused dedication. It’s essential to identify the talent you are most passionate about and create a detailed plan to express and develop it fully. Remember, your gift—not your education—will create opportunities for you. Each of us has at least one natural talent given to us by Yahweh. Discovering and refining this gift is the key to your success.
Discover Your Gift
How to discover and refine your gift. Unlocking your life’s purpose can be a life-changing journey guided by three fundamental principles. The first principle highlights that your purpose may be linked to issues that evoke strong feelings of anger and compassion within you. This intense, righteous anger can serve as a powerful compass, illuminating the path toward your true destiny. Take time to reflect on the social injustices and challenges that resonate deeply with your spirit—those that evoke a visceral emotional response.
It is widely believed that each individual possesses a natural yearning to make a meaningful contribution to the world, striving to address and alleviate its pressing problems. By tapping into these emotions, you can discover a calling that fulfils you and inspires positive change in your community and beyond. When specific issues strike a chord with you, igniting a powerful sense of anger, while you find others evoke little to no response, it can suggest that addressing these particular problems is intimately tied to your life’s calling.
Throughout history, countless influential figures have harnessed their anger about specific injustices or challenges. This intense emotion served as a catalyst, propelling them to take meaningful action and effect real change for the better. Their passionate responses defined their journeys and inspired movements that transformed society. An example is Madame Theresa.
Number Two
How can you discover your purpose and calling? Picture a scenario in which you are free to pursue something that stirs your soul, driven purely by passion and without expecting any rewards. What activity or pursuit ignites a desire within you—an endeavour you would gladly engage in, even if no financial compensation were offered? What is it that you adore so deeply that you would chase it fervently, fully aware that your destiny transcends the allure of monetary gains? Embracing this heartfelt pursuit, fuelled by your passion, symbolises the essence of your true destiny.
It is a journey that unfolds with joy and fulfilment at every turn. Those who have uncovered their purpose understand this truth: they seek work for financial survival and the delightful experience it brings to their lives, finding satisfaction in the process rather than for monetary gain. Destiny transcends the notion of a mere job; it embodies an assignment. At a prestigious event hosted by Columbia Business School in New York, the acclaimed journalist Charlie Rose engaged in an insightful interview with the influential Bill Gates.
During their conversation, Rose probed Gates about the secret behind his remarkable success. In a reflective moment, Gates shared that he had uncovered a passion that surpasses even his desire for financial gain: the art of inventing. He elaborated on how this pursuit fuels his creativity and serves as the essence of his life’s mission. Gates passionately emphasised that the innovative solutions he develops aim to tackle many of the pressing challenges we face in society today.
Number Three
How to Discover and Refine Your Gift. Your destiny is linked to your passion—the spark that fuels your enthusiasm and brings you joy. Each person possesses a unique passion, an interest or inclination that lights up their spirit and drives them forward. Yet, the weight of societal norms and expectations often tries to stifle this inner flame. From a young age, many are conditioned to prioritise financial stability and pursue conventional achievements, often at the expense of following our hearts. We are taught to chase stability instead of pursuing what inspires us, which can feel like a reckless gamble.
This societal pressure can create a life that revolves around mere survival, filled with routines and obligations, rather than one that seeks fulfilment and happiness. In this journey of self-discovery, breaking free from these constraints and exploring what resonates within us is essential. By embracing our passions, we can cultivate a life rich with joy and meaning, allowing our unique gifts to flourish. Remembering that there is a time limit on discovering and embracing your calling. Deep within you lies a passion that defines your essence, patiently awaiting your acknowledgement and expression.
This inner drive, vibrant and alive, will steer you toward a fulfilling journey—a life enriched with purpose and deep contentment. By following this passion, you can unveil the extraordinary path that leads to your most authentic self. Unearthing your calling in your twenties can be a life-changing experience, offering you an advantage in time and opportunities. When you identify your passions and purpose early on, you set the stage for years of dedicated effort and growth. In contrast, discovering your life’s work in your fifties may limit your time to pursue it thoroughly, making the journey more challenging and rushed.
Embracing your path at a younger age can lead to a more fulfilling and accomplished life.
Discover And Refine your Gift
You have found your special gift when you discover a unique talent that sets you apart—such as excelling in communication, teaching, consulting, or public speaking. The next step is to decide how to leverage this gift. In the early stages of development, it is important not to charge for using your talent, especially if you are starting. Many individuals seek payment too soon. If you genuinely want to make the most of your gift, consider offering it for free initially. For example, if you have a talent for teaching, you could volunteer to teach at your church children’s ministry.
This kind of opportunity allows you to share your gift freely and provides a valuable experience that can help refine your talent. To practice and improve my gifts, it was suggested I use them with children, who are more forgiving if you make mistakes. I approached the pastor two years later to express my interest in working with the Teens Church, as this will provide an opportunity to communicate with teenagers and further develop my skills. I engaged with the young teenagers during this time, allowing them to share their thoughts and ideas. This experience enables me to study various subjects and gain valuable insights.
I committed myself to a journey of learning, diving into a vast array of books and drawing knowledge from a diverse range of sources. My adventure toward mastering public speaking and teaching began within the welcoming walls of my church, where I spent four years in the teen’s church. During this time, I developed and refined my skills, which were fostered by the supportive community around me. Following that, I continued my growth for two years with the Youth Alive group, an experience that further enriched my understanding and techniques.
I firmly believe that the foundation of effective communication lies in first absorbing knowledge before applying it to real-world situations. This principle has guided me as I worked diligently to enhance my public speaking, writing, and teaching abilities, steadily shaping me into a more confident and capable communicator.
Time To Be Exposed
After working with the teenagers, I approached the pastor and offered my services to the young adults and university group for a period of two years. During this time, I meticulously prepare the teaching materials, conduct sessions, and engage the group in discussions about business, investments, and other related topics. This experience allowed me to continue learning and growing while imparting knowledge to others, thus increasing my value. When you feel that you have devoted enough time and effort to honing your skills and sharing your gifts, you anticipate the next phase of your journey, confident that your efforts will yield fruitful results.
After completing my studies at WOFBI Bible College, I was honoured to be ordained as a youth pastor. I later transitioned into mentoring young congregation members and became a certified life coach through Distance Learning. This training enabled me to support young people more personally and comprehensively. Every individual needs to undergo a period of refinement before they can truly shine. Yahweh will reveal your true potential only when you are adequately prepared.
This philosophy has guided me throughout my life’s journey, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. The rest, as they say, is history.
How to be Successful
To succeed in any field—whether it is public speaking, consulting, communication, or business—it is crucial to shift your focus from merely seeking success to becoming a person of value. Instead of chasing success, aim to be someone who makes significant and unique contributions. To become a person of significance, you must cultivate a rare and exceptional quality that sets you apart from others. By doing this, you can make a distinct and irreplaceable contribution that no one else can replicate. Remember, your success lies in your ability to offer something unique and valuable to the world.
Focusing on a specific area of expertise can significantly enhance your credibility and help you gain recognition as an authority in that field. While a broad understanding of various topics is beneficial, dedicating yourself to mastering one area can lead to tremendous success. By concentrating your efforts, you can overcome the challenges that often arise from trying to be a generalist. Embracing this approach can pave the way for you to stand out and make a meaningful impact.
